Classroom
Presentations are given in the first floor classroom. The classroom has projection equipment where presentations and group discussions are held.
Tiling Bays
There are 8 tiling bays, one for each student.
The tiling bays are arranged as 4 bathrooms and 4 kitchens. Bathrooms have basin, bath, toilet, shaver point, and two windows. Kitchens have work surfaces, power point, cupboard, extractor fan, and two windows.
The tiling bays have examples of the type of tiling problem likely to be encountered in practical tiling situations.
These problem situations are used to demonstrate how to identify a problem then, practical steps to overcome them.
Examples are features being out of true requiring levels to be carefully taken, boxed in sections, and centering tiles along a wall.
Equipment
All equipment, tiles, adhesive, and grout are provided.
On the course you will be shown how to safely use tile cutting equipment and will be expected to use these tools during your practical tiling.
Tiles are fixed using a special training adhesive formulated and supplied by BAL. This adhesive sets 'hard' as in a normal situation but allows the tiles to be removed after the course without damaging the walls and floors of the tiling bays.
Tuition
The number of students is kept to a maximum of 8 allowing each student their own tiling bay in which to practice their developing skills. Small tiling class sizes mean individual tuition is easily delivered to each student.
