Quality
We take the quality of teaching seriously. To monitor and improve our courses we undertake pre and post-course surveys to check how we are doing and, importantly, where we might need to do better.
- Pre-course survey. The pre-course survey aims to find out any previous tiling experience, your expectations of the course, what you hope to achieve by the end of the course, and what your first tiling task will be after the course. This is conducted either by telephone or face-to-face if you visit us.
- Post-course survey. The post-course survey aims to identify whether your pre-course expectations were met, overall how you felt the course went, suggested improvements, and to identify where we might have fallen short of your expectations.
Feedback
Below is a selection of comments extracted from our post-course feedback surveys. We include both positive and negative comments with our answers.
Pre-course Information
"It would be useful to send out the content sheet prior to the course so that we knew what to expect over the week ahead."
"A map would be useful."
We have reviewed our pre-course joining instructions. These now include course content, start/finish times, map, directions, and contact details. Our website has also been updated to provide more information on all our courses.

Least enjoyable/useful
"The BAL products were not explained very well."
"Hearing about adhesives/grouts without any practical experience of mixing etc."
"Not enough on laying out for different rooms."
". not enough input on tricks of the trade ."
". list of tools and approximate cost."
"It is a very tiring week! I didn't expect to be quite so exhausted! Obviously a skill underestimated in my mind."
The course content has been restructured to give an appropriate level of detail on adhesives and grout dependant on course type and length. Students work at different rates, those students who complete their practical tiling early will be shown different tiling layouts. We now include tools of the trade and can organise them to be delivered next working day from our suppliers. Tricks on the trade are more clearly explained, and finally we can't do much about exhaustion!
