We regularly offer 1 and 2 day DIY tiling weekend courses. Please see the Course Calendar for details of scheduled courses. Additional DIY tiling weekend courses can be scheduled dependant on the number of students who have expressed an interest. Please Contact Us to discuss your requirement. We offer DIY tiling evening courses subject to numbers of students. Typically these run over 3 nights between 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm. Do you offer individual 1:1 tuition?Yes. We offer individual 1:1 tiling tuition subject to facilities being available. If you would like further details please Contact Us to discuss your specific requirements. Can you help in finding local accommodation whilst I am on the tiling course?Yes. We can supply you a list of local Hotels and B & Bs. Please Contact Us for further details. What are the course times?All days 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Exceptions are course start day which starts at 9:30 am and Fridays which finish at 2 pm. 1 and 2 day DIY courses start at 9:00 am and finish at 4:30 pm. What clothing should I wear whilst on course?Overalls or clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Footwear should be closed toe with a non-slip sole. No sandals or similar. Are there any additional charges?No. Is it easy to park at Sussex Tiling School?Yes. There is dedicated parking adjacent to the school with further parking spaces, if necessary, close by. Is there public transport to/from Sussex Tiling School?Yes. Public transport runs close by the school. What are the class sizes?Class sizes are limited to 8 to ensure each student gets their own tiling bay. Do you provide all the tiling tools and materials necessary for the course?Yes. All tiling tools, tiles, adhesive, and grout are supplied. Can I buy tiling tools whilst on the course?Yes. We can advise on which branded tools to purchase and organise delivery to you at our training facility. Our suppliers offer a next day delivery on in stock items. Can I bring my own tiles on the course?Yes. Course members who want to use their own tiles to see what the finished effect will look like and/or practice different tiling patterns and techniques are welcome. Please bear in mind that you will damage a percentage of your tiles whilst learning. If you want to bring your own tiles please Contact Us to discuss the quantity of tiles you will require. We use a training adhesive specially formulated by BAL at the school so it is possible to remove your tiles after the course and clean them up ready for reuse. What are the catering arrangements during the course?Free tea and coffee are available throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch. There is a bakery next to the training school where bread and cakes can be purchased. What level of competence should I be able to achieve doing the DIY course?Successful completion of a DIY course should allow you to carry out basic repair work and be able to undertake small tiling jobs around the house, for example tiling a kitchen or bathroom wall or floor providing there are no problem areas. We find the 2 day DIY course is the most popular since it allows additional practice in tiling thus ensuring a greater degree of competency. Do I get a certificate of course completion?On completion of your course you will receive a certificate of attendance. Can I do additional practice?Yes. Additional practice days are available for all courses. Please Contact Us to discuss your requirements and to confirm pricing. I am an experienced tiler, can I join a course part way through?Yes. If you are interested in undertaking only part of a course to say, extend your skills or knowledge of a particular aspect of tiling then please Contact Us to discuss your requirements. I am an experienced tiler, do you run special courses covering specific training requirements?Yes. If you are interested in extend your skills or knowledge in one or more aspects of tiling then please Contact Us to discuss your requirements. What is covered in the post-course support help line?We provide telephone support for course students who have completed the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Professional courses. The help line is not available for students who have completed a DIY course. Is it easy to get to Sussex Tiling School?Sussex Tiling School is within commutable distance of Hampshire, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, and Kent. See the Map and Directions to the school. We are in close proximity to good road, rail, cross channel, and air links so can offer tiling training to students from other parts of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, and mainland Europe.
